New York Underground

 New York City and its subway has always been a gritty, blurry tableau. As I bear witness to urban humanity struggling to avoid eye contact and striving to remain autonomous within a densely populated and unnaturally constricted space. The imagery is inherently grainy and strikingly high-contrast, and the complexity of this theme begs the use of the black and white medium. 

The images for this exhibit are printed on aluminum plates. In each photograph, where the artist excludes imagery, crafting white space, the space is replaced and reality subtly altered through the introduction of an inorganic material. Through this medium, a biomechanical energy is imbued, thus enhancing the artist’s vision of a consciously disconnected, present day dystopia.
